Valley Verde will provide a hands-on gardening workshop to provide people with tips and pointers on how to start growing their own food around their homes. This workshop will be focused on growing food in small, limited spaces such a raised beds, containers, pots, or patio gardens. You will learn about varieties of vegetables, herbs, and greens to grow this fall/winter season and the upcoming spring/summer season according to Valley Verde’s Planting Calendar. Valley Verde will also teach you about soil types and healthy soil recipes for your organic home garden - (toss aside the Miracle-Gro!).
Be curious and step inside of the circular economy model that Valley Verde is creating by teaching families to grow food, help them to become entrepreneurs and provide access to ethnic vegetables to the multicultural communities in the Santa Clara County. Valley Verde is a non profit organization that works to promote the widespread cultivation of organic home vegetable gardens, in order to encourage healthier eating and address food insecurity—that is, the state of being without reliable access to food that is healthy and affordable—in Santa Clara Valley.
